The Opportunity

NetMotion Wireless, a small but growing software company is in need of a strong and innovative Test Engineer.  The person assuming this role will be responsible for using your technical, analytical, and teamwork skills to ensure high quality and customer satisfaction for mobile access software products.

Responsibilities:

You will work directly with innovative wireless networking technologies and have an impact on the direction of a strategic and highly visible product by:

• Creating and maintaining effective software test plans
• Designing, documenting, and following hands-on test cases
• Writing automated tests and testing tools
• Working effectively with the test team, developers, support, and technical writers
• Testing client-server applications running over wired and wireless networks on Windows platforms
• Advocating for product quality, elevating issues when appropriate.

Qualifications:

Testers at NetMotion are all experienced engineers who have shipped multiple products and have a dedication to and a track record of producing high quality features and products.  To do well in this role, you will have:

• Three years software testing experience on a client/server or networking-related product
• A Strong foundation in general networking concepts and protocols
• Excellent working knowledge of Windows 2003 and 2000 servers, and Windows Vista, XP, and 2000 clients, including installation and configuration
• Scripting knowledge (Perl, VBScript, etc), with a preference for those who have programming knowledge (C++, Java)
• Configuration and troubleshooting experience with VPNs, firewalls, NATs, routers, gateways, and networking services (preferably)
• Experience working with Windows Mobile/Smartphone devices (preferably)
• Self-motivated, with an ability to work very independently balanced with being a collaborative team player
• Strong analytical ability and excellent organizational skills.

Education:

BS in Computer Science or related field preferred, or commensurate experience.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time for meetings or work, operate a personal computer, visually inspect forms and spreadsheets, conduct oral communication via telephone and in person, retrieve and return files in storage cabinets, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  General office environment.  High levels of stress may occur.
