NetMotion Wireless Attracts 134 New Customers in the First Half of 2004

Carriers' focus on enterprise penetration, increased IT spending and maturation of wireless technologies drive accelerated adoption of mobility management

Seattle—August 10, 2004—NetMotion Wireless Inc., the market leader in mobility management software, today announced the addition of 134 new customers in the six months ending June 30, 2004. NetMotion Wireless' customer base has increased nearly 50 percent since December 31, 2003 and comprises enterprise field force automation, healthcare, and public safety organizations. Customers using NetMotion Mobility™ software to enable their mission-critical mobile computing deployments now include York International, Port of Seattle, Puget Sound Energy, Fletcher Allen Healthcare, Jacksonville County Sheriff's Department and Orange County Sheriff's Department.

"As the leader in the mobility management category, NetMotion Wireless' new customer wins clearly demonstrate significant adoption of mobile computing solutions by enterprise customers," said Steve Cullen, CEO of NetMotion Wireless. "We see every indication that adoption of NetMotion Mobility XE will continue accelerating and expect to add an even greater number of new customers over the next six months."

Strong enterprise sales efforts by cellular carriers, maturing wireless technologies, and increased IT spending are driving greater demand for mobility management solutions. More than 419 leading organizations now use Mobility XE to get connected and stay connected to mission-critical applications over wireless networks—solving critical problems of application access and performance, network security and centralized management of complex, multi-network mobile computing deployments.

Some examples include:

  • York International—using NetMotion Wireless' software, York International provides 2,000 technical service team members with fully functional, real-time wireless access to its CRM application (Siebel 7.5) over multiple wide area wireless networks.

  • Port of Seattle—using Mobility XE, port police have seamless connectivity to multiple wide area wireless networks and real-time mobile access to the port's centrally located database.

  • Orange County Sheriff's department—150 field detectives use Mobility XE for persistent connectivity and access to driver's license information and crime lab data located at department headquarters.

"The market for wireless field force automation solutions is expected to grow to about $2 billion by 2006." said Gene Signorini, program manager, wireless/mobile enterprise & commerce at Yankee Group. "Enterprises need to concentrate on providing full-functionality wireless access to the kind of mission-critical applications and corporate data their mobile workers need. Fortunately, NetMotion Wireless has created a highly effective mobility management solution that does just that."
