NetMotion Wireless Announces FIPS 140-2 Validated Encryption
Mobility XE mobile VPN incorporates cryptographic libraries for secure mobile computing
Seattle, WA—September 30, 2005—NetMotion Wireless, the industry-leading provider of mobile secure remote access solutions, announced the immediate availability of Mobility XE version 6.60. The new version incorporates FIPS 140-2 validated cryptographic modules from F-Secure Corporation, and provides stronger encryption options, benefiting customers with requirements for FIPS 140-2 validated encryption products.
"NetMotion Wireless has a strong presence in the state and local government markets and understands that our customers require the greatest level of security to protect highly sensitive information," said Andy Willett, senior vice president of sales and business development at NetMotion Wireless. "FIPS 140-2 validation will allow us to remain dominant in these markets well into the future."
The Mobility product has supported 128-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) since 2001. Mobility XE version 6.60 adds support for 192-bit and 256-bit AES strengths. The corresponding ECDH (Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman) curves sizes have also been increased as recommended by NIST in FIPS PUB 186-2, "Digital Signature Standard."
Server software incorporating the FIPS 140-2 validated libraries and increased encryption and key strength is supported on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Server operating systems. Client software is supported on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Mobile 4.2 (ARM), including Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs.
About FIPS 140-2
FIPS PUB 140-2 (the Federal Information Processing Standards Publication 140-2) is a standard that defines U.S. government security requirements for cryptographic modules. When choosing data security or cryptography-related products, U.S. and Canadian federal government organizations are advised by NIST/CSE (National Institute of Standards and Technology of the United States of America / the Communications Security Establishment of the Government of Canada) to consider only products that are FIPS 140-2 validated.
Additional information on the certificate for F-Secure's cryptographic module is available on the NIST web site (www.nist.gov).
