Mobility Client — Standard Installation

Summary

This technical note provides a walk-through of the Mobility Client installation process. In a typical installation, the only Mobility configuration required on the client is the name or IP address of the Mobility XE server.

The Mobility Client can also be installed silently - see Mobility Client—Silent Installation.

Mobility XE Client Installation

1. Begin the Mobility Client installation by double clicking the installation package icon or inserting the CD. You will see the following message as the Self-Extractor places the files necessary for installation onto your machine.



2. When the following screen is displayed, click Next to continue the installation.



3. Accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.



4. Choose the directory for the installation. (Default Recommended)



5. Enter the name or IP address of your Mobility XE Server and click next. This information should be provided by your NetMotion system administrator. If you do not have this information contact your system administrator for assistance.

Note: If choosing DHCP, the DHCP server must be configured to supply this information. If you do not administer the DHCP server for all of the networks your devices will connect from you should not select this option. See Assigning the Mobility Server Address via DHCP for more information.



6. You may see the following unsigned driver warning, you can safely continue the installation by clicking Next.



7. The installation will now continue and you will see a progress meter. This meter will fill up and reset several times throughout installation.



8. During the installation process you may see the following warning regarding the NetMotion Virtual Network Interface Card (NMVNIC). You can safely choose “Continue Anyway”.



9. The Mobility Client has been successfully installed.



10. You must restart your machine in order for the configuration changes to take effect. Upon restart the Mobility Client will make a connection with the Mobility XE Server.
